A country with so many bars along with so many beers to go in them can't be wrong, can it?

Two Belgian youngsters stole an entire public playground to build their own private playground at home.
The brother and sister, aged 12 and 13, stole two wooden swings, a seesaw and a wooden cabin from the playground in Oudenburg..

The children became nervous after reading about their handiwork in local newspapers and after seeing police patrols of the area. They put everything back and then told their story to the police. Officers gave them a telling off before returning them to their parents.

A Belgian house burglar tried to fool police by jumping into bed and claiming he lived there. Officers arrived after tenants of the Antwerp building found the front door had been forced open. They found him in the bed but wearing all his clothes.
Police arrested the man when the concierge said he had never seen him before.
  
A Belgian zookeeper has bought 50 million buttons at an auction in Germany. He has stored them in the cafeteria of his zoo and intends to sell them once he has sorted them out into colour and size. Victor Bleus from Kortessem says it took him 15 trips to Hamburg to transport the buttons. "So many times I heard women complain they couldn't find the right button to sew on a blouse or a jacket. If I can sell 500,000 of them I have done good business."

It happens time after time. People understand Europe the way they've been introduced to it - The usual tourist meccas, the attractions on a thousand postcards. Then they remember Belgium, the little country, they passed through a few days ago. It seems beautiful, it's practically next door to Paris, London and Amsterdam, and they have 24 hours to explore it before heading home. Two hours later, they are in love with Belgium!

It's worth taking a look at the Belgian dictionary definition here;
Brussels (French Bruxelles, Dutch Brussel, German Brüssel). It has five distinct meanings:
1. It is the name of one of the three regions constituting the Belgian federation (the others are Flanders and Wallonia).
2. The Brussels Capital Region consists of only one administrative district (the Brussels Capital District) in which there are 19 municipalities
3. As mentioned in point 2 Brussels is also one of the nineteen municipalities located in the Brussels Capital Region and District. The municipality comprises the city of Brussels proper and the towns of Haren (Dutch) or Haeren (French), Laken (Dutch) or Laeken (French) and Neder-Over-Heembeek (Dutch and French). 
4. As mentioned in point 3 Brussels is also the main city within the Brussels municipality.
5. The three main institutions of the European Union have their headquarters in Brussels. This leads to a fifth meaning, especially in Britain, where the city is used as a metonymy for some aspects of the Union. "Brussels is considering banning raunchy TV images".

A man suspected of robbing a jewelers store in Liege said he couldn't have done it "because he was busy breaking into a school at the same time." Police then arrested him for breaking into the school.

Surprised while burgling a house in Antwerp, Belgium, a thief fled out the back door, clambered over a nine-foot wall, dropped down the other side, and found himself in the city prison.
  
Police are hopeful of catching a thief who struck in an erotic cinema in Belgium - and then left his car registration documents on his seat.
The man turned to the 64-year-old man sitting next to him and snatched a golden necklace from around his neck. He then ran out of the Antwerp cinema, not realising he had left the car documents behind.

A Belgian man has been jailed for six months for wearing a fake Rolex . A court in Dendermonde heard that the man, named only as Gunther R, 33, had been spotted by representatives of Rolex wearing the fake watch and they complained to authorities. The judge ruled the man had knowingly bought the fake and sentenced him to six months in prison under laws for handling counterfeit goods. He was also ordered to pay a £700 fine for breaching brand name registration laws.

A Belgian seaside town has made its way into the Guinness Book of Records by knotting together almost 10,000 bras. Oostduinkerke knocked its bra-knotting rival Tongerlo out of the record book by tying 9,829 bras together to beat Tongerlo's 2001 record of 7,500. The bras will be donated to charities working with women in Romania.
