| Hello & welcome to a celebration of the finest pan--European annual musical jamboree known to man, the Eurovision Song Contest. 2007 sees the first visit of the Contest to Helsinki, Finland, due the triumph of the master of the gathering dusk, Lordi. After 45 years of trying and failing, the Finns finally landed the biggest prize in pan-continental pap pop. |

The draw for the running order has been made. Pretty pictures of all the singers can now be found in the 2007 section. I will be adding acerbic comments over the coming few weeks. The 2007 Douzepoints pre-awards ceremony is ready and available here. My predictions are available for those in the know to scoff at. You can view my finger in the air thoughts for the semi final and final respectively. This year I will be heading off to Helsinki, to garner Lordi's signature and reporting from the front line with a Lapin Kulta in my hand. Wish me luck. |

| As a quick overview of 2007 the resplendent Verka of the Ukraine immediately rocketed to the top of the "good god, that's cheese" category and offended the Russians at the same time. Lithuania have come up with my personal favourite for the year in the shape of The 4Fun, Georgia have the largest dress in the world for Sopho Khalvashi, Spotty boyband Anonymous have got some excited for Andorra, Teapacks will fail to get all political for Israel, incredibly a good Elica Todorova for Bulgaria of all nations, Olivia Lewis has triumphed on her 11th go in Malta with "Vertigo", DJ Bobo is banging on about vampires for the Swiss, and most frighteningly of all, DQ for Denmark. So this paragraph is top and tail drag artists. From chewy Edam, through pungent Danish Blue, all the way to crumbly Lancashire, there is little chance to be "board" with the amount of cheese on display in 2007, that's for sure. |

| The big wedge concentrates on the real stars of the show, our plucky entrants. Whether they went through a grueling four month pre-selection or were phoned up and begged to sing, they will all be here. But if you're after a British educational perspective, then there's always info on each country involved too. Just click on a country below. What with handy ideas to throw your very own special Eurovision Party, general bookie Odds for the contest, and the never-popular Predictions section, then there really is no reason to shop around for your ESC related nonsense. Please feel free to give your Feedback, but remember I have been known to burst into tears if comments are too harsh. There are many excellent Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) websites out there (please see Links), and they are all extremely good in their own way. But I reckon many of them just didn't grasp the real attraction of the contest, namely the ridiculous, cheesy, fun of it all. So amaze your relatives, astound your colleagues, and lose your friends with www.douzepoints.com |
